Racing season, I can already smell the sweet 110 race fuel. Parts are being ordered and prep will begin when it really warms up. After mucho waffling, I finally decided where and when I’ll be racing this year: Route 66 Series, Rock Island Grand Prix, 61 Kartway, and maybe the SKUSA Supernats in Las Vegas.
September 3-4 Labor Day Weekend, Rock Island Grand Prix
Throw in weekly racing at 61 Kartway April-September, if and when people actually show up, and it’ll be a good year.
I’m not a big fan of the Route 66 Series but that is where all the racers and competition is at in the Midwest. My big problem: my class (TAG Senior) has to use the junk Bridgestone YLC tires. They suck period. General consensus is one of the worst tires in karting. Bridgestone/Margay pays Route 66 to use this tire so not much you can do about it. On the plus side, they give away free tires at every race and they have awesome year end prizes including new chassis and engines. So you got that going for you, which is nice.
That’s it...best laid plans something something...
Stay tuned for the ramp up to the season. And I’m armed with 2 vid cams this year, 1 high def. Go for the glory or crash and burn. Either way tape will be rolling.
Your friend and my favorite,
Morgan
